Parents and players as we approach club tryout season, we would like to share with you some information on tryouts. 

The Rocky Mountain Region (RMR) sets the rules for all clubs playing in the USAV RMR area and for summer 2026 they have defined the Open Evaluation Period as July 6th-9th for 15s-18s teams where players are under active assessment toward placement onto teams. Clubs can verbally indicate that they intend to make a Formal Offer to the athlete through the OCS portal which will open at 8pm on Thursday, July 9th.

The tryout Period begins on July 10th for 15s-18s teams and September 21st for 14s and younger. During tryouts, players can receive an offer in the OCS portal on the spot.

• Verbal offers can be made before these dates as a means of a club expressing interest but are not binding to the RMR. Some clubs have been known to make a verbal offer and then pressure the parents/players to decide on the club including signing a monetarily legally binding contract before these official dates. 
• Coalition will never pressure our parents or players into deciding by saying something like “we are offering you a spot on a team but if you don’t say yes before you walk out that door the offer is no longer valid”. 
• At Coalition we will make verbal offers by telling you that we are interested in you playing for us and to please let us know in the next few days what your thoughts are about playing for us (i.e. very interested, interested but want to look at other clubs, would be second choice, not interested) and if you do decide to play elsewhere that you let us know so that we can offer to someone else. 
• These offers are not binding to you but are considered binding to us in that we will not offer, even verbally, to more than 10 players per team. 
• We will not send out contracts to sign until the official dates, but we will have sample contracts available for you to look at at each tryout. 
• If your player doesn’t receive a verbal offer immediately, please don’t take this to mean we are not interested.  We are evaluating a lot of players over many open gyms and tryouts as we try to put together the best mix of players for our teams.  Many times, we make offers late due to our tryout philosophy since we sometimes get very late turn downs of offers previously made. 
• We do not believe in high pressure tactics to sign players, nor circumventing policies of the USAV governing body to sign players. 
• We believe that parents and players should be allowed to tryout at all of the clubs they are considering to see what is the best fit for their family without being pressured to commit before exploring other options. 
• We believe in being fair and honest in everything we do as a club and hold ourselves to a high standard. 
• We believe how a club presents itself at open gyms and tryouts is a good indicator of how other things will be handled throughout the season.
